This week Orlando, and perhaps much of the country, has been
enthralled in the Casey Antony verdict. While I have the utmost respect for the
jury and feel that they did their job professionally, there are all kinds of
questions about the case that remain unanswered. My personal opinion is that
there is much of the story that hasn’t been told, and it centers on an

Recently, we looked at hair. The most famous story in scripture relating to hair is the story of Samson who lost his physical strength when his hair was cut. His spiritual strength, however, was lost way before that because of his selfishness and sin.

I want to encourage people to use their body parts, such as eyes, feet, arms, nose, etc., for the glory of God. In John 4:7-9, in the midst of the noon day heat, Jesus asks the woman at the well to meet his need and give him a drink. While it would have been easy to provide some water for Jesus, the ladies response is marked with two reasons why she can't help in this simple task. Both of which are based in petty prejudice. Recently, on one of our hot Florida summer days, I took my family – with our Children's Ministry – down to Typhoon Lagoon, one of the Disney water parks. As a football (soccer) fan I have been glued to ESPN recently watching the World Cup. I have been incredibly disappointed in England's first two performances, and, for no apparent reason, I'm optimistic that they will win their crucial third game this Wednesday.

The very first Church, recorded in the book of Acts, is often held as a model for what the Church of today should look like. There are two main reasons why I think this is true. Palm Sunday is about misinterpreted expectations. All of us have felt the disappointment of unmet expectations when what we wanted and expected to happy. The Disciples, and the crowds, that followed Jesus to Jerusalem were no different on that Sunday morning. 

The disciples had established expectations based on a number of factors surrounding that day.
